BCC HOSTS MACA GIRLS OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP: 1ST TIME @ THE BCC // 1ST INSTALLMENT OF THIS EVENT // 20 PLAY // CHESS COMPETITION // EDUCATION AND GOOD WILL

GIRLS OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

Ria Dawar: 3.5/4 to share 1-2nd place
with Madeleine Hung.
Madeline Hung: 3.5/4 to share
1-2nd place with Ria Dawar.

National Girls Championship in
Phoenix, Arizona, at the site of the
US Open Chess Championship; so
a tie-break system had to be made:
a series of blitz chess games ensued!]
GAME 1 BLITZ CHESS TIE-BREAK
Ria Dawar, poised opposite Madeleine Hung, also poised,
Game 1 of tie-break blitz series: Ria won this game.
GAME 2 BLITZ CHESS TIE BREAK
Still poised, both players scrambled to meet the 
time-control, though when Ria checkmated Madeleine
there was still over a minute left on both clocks.
Result: 2-0 to Ria, the crown and a chance to play in the 
National Girls Championship, Phoenix, AZ this summer.
Brava to both girls: they were good sports and 
exhibited great skill and nerve.

Ria Dawar, 3.5/4 for 1-2nd place and a +31 to 1506 provisional
rating. This is Ria's 4th rated event. She is quite skilled for her
novice status, and very humble. Brava, Ria: good luck and good
chess at the National Girls Ch in Phoenix 2015!
 
Madeleine Hung 3.5/4 for 1-2nd place and a +137 to 1360 rating.

Yue (Kerry) Huang from China, now living in
Massachusetts scored 2/4 for a 50 percent record.

Joy Cao scored 2/4 at 50 percent. Brava, Joy!
Carah Su 2/4 for 50 percent and a +5 to 1076
rating. Brava, Carah!
U1000 SECTION

Mary Meadley Ings was the only person
to score a perfect 4-0 score in the event.

658 to 782!
Mary won 1st place in the U1000 Section.
Sophie Rosenholtz plays black vs Meriame Rochd in Round 1.
Sophie scored scored 3 points to capture clear 2nd place.
Tianna Wang scored 3/4 to take clear 3rd
place on tie-break points. Brava, Tianna!
Saanvi Tiruveendhula scored 3/4 to take the
1st U600 prize.
